Just wondered how often people get rid of dust etc from their pc. Today I took all my fans out, and the heatsink, all the cd drives and the front panel of my case and got rid of all the dust. My temps have now dropped over 10 degrees under load!

    Never.

All passively cooled so no fans to suck dust in :)

I take some compressed air to my radiator and fan grills every so often...perhaps once or twice every 6 months.

Whenever I CBA.... hadnt done it for ~ 7 months... the front intake was like a carpet, totally fluffed over...
Temps have actually gone up since cleaning o_O added some grill over the intakes tho, so thats probably why...

I should clean mine more ( 3x 92mm fans 1x80mm all intake). My case gets very dusty very easy, so i could clean it ever day, but once ever few months suffices.

Since I got my Phong, which has an intake filter I haven't needed to clean the inside at all. The filter gets a quick clean every couple weeks.

I wonder if anyone has tried to use one of these?
I have never looked at these up close but I wonder what kind of air flow you could get out of one of these and, if it would muffle some of the noise from a fan.

I can bet it wouldn't be good.

Think about the sucking power of an engine...the airflow is going to be good through that kind of filter.

Now think about the paltry 40cfm you will get AT MAX from ANY standard PC fan.

K&N filter is useless unless you have it on your car. No PC fan can suck much air through those. It would, however, be insanely clean inside the case.

I haven't cleaned my case out since I built it. almost 6 months now.
I have an awful lot of fans so I will be doing it soon, but I want to get off my butt and buy the rest of the stuff I want to put in the machine first ;)

    Including air filters ;D
