I'm 29 and I still have quite a few clothes from when I was at school mostly dating from around '98/'99, so I must have stopped growing around the age of 15 or 16 because most of them still fit, although I would have to lose about 3 stone to fit into the Eisenegger combat pants (non camo). The thing I still wear regularly from this period is a plain navy blue Fila fleece and a Reebok trackie top gets an outing once in a while. I also have a 13 year old pair of adidas Samba trainers which I had in college that I still wear. There is a Wrangler bodywarmer which was my dads, its older than me so probably eary '80s but I really like it so I wear that sometimes.
I've got a lot of T-shirts that I got more than 10 years ago that I still wear. I'm about one size too big to fit into my high school pants (trousers for UK). I've been wearing the same 10 pair of underwear since before my wife and I got married . . . almost 7 years ago. I recently graduated university with a masters in architecture. My wife and I went out and got me professional clothes. We spent $500, which included some very nice shoes. It was the most we had ever spent on my in our six years of marriage. I doubt I spend even $50 a year in clothing otherwise.
I have a pajamas that I received from my Grandma for Christmas 2003, It's one of my regular pajamas and the most comfortable There is also my pair of Adidas Superstar that I purchased in 2006, they were my clubbing shoes back in the days.
Back in the day I was a regular at Top shop and the like. Nowadays apart from jeans where I will only wear Levis or Wranglers pretty much everything else will come from charity shops and I have some excellent stuff. I tend to go to the more wealthier parts of Edinburgh as their charity shops do have a better class of clothing. Underwear is supplied by Father Christmas and cannot remember the last time I needed to buy any.
Kronos why is it that he seems to know so much about underwear sizes, he never fails to get the correct size for me.
A subject I must admit I have not given much thought to. But you do realised that I will now have to include this question in my soon to be posted letter to Santa in which I have respectfully asked for a new computer chair and a couple of GTX 980's. I am more than willing to forgo the usual socks and underpants.
I have a pair of pants that are pushing 6 months already , new record for me I think I can safely get away with only using 2 pairs this year On a serious note, all my cloths either get torn up or shrink so i think the oldest piece of clothing I have would be my leather jacket which is only a few years old.
Most of my clothing is 8 plus years old. Don't really buy clothes but when I do they are second hand. I'm a bit odd!
I think it might be worthwhile clarifying something fairly early on in the thread: "Pants". Are we going with the shortened for British "underpants" or the American word for trousers because anyone who can last the whole year with only two pairs of tighty-whities is a better, albeit itchier, man than me.
I've got one particular suit thats 49 years old and i'm still wearing it, fits pretty well still considering it's had a hard life.. My birthday suit Ok. I'll get my (reasonably new) coat and leave quietly
Hmm my oldest pieces of clothing still in regular use is t-shirts. Got a Radiohead and Pantera t-shirt that are both 16 years old and a pair of white socks that are about 20 years old. Don't ask me how the socks have survived coz I have no idea! My feet usually eat through socks.
I added clarity in my post. I know lots of British words for things and would use them when I was in London last summer, but I really messed up that one in a conversation and it was confusing, funny, and embarrassing for everyone. So now I know better.
If I buy new clothes, I always recycle old to make room. Otherwise they are just hanging in the wardrobe doing nothing. Typically I would get a year max out of shirts, jeans, jumpers. I don't tend to wear jackets, so they last until I am bored of them.
