Modding How safe is it?

    I remember being on a course a few years before the last one I mentioned, where
    someone did exactly that. They took the rubber connection off the side of a dumb
    terminal they were building from a kit (Zenith I think) after they tried to power
    it up. They had to "collect their thoughts" for a while after.

    (This forum needs a "zapped" smiley!)

    PS Smilodon, have you seen these?

    well, when my guitar valve amp started playing up, i took a look inside. no i didnt get a shock, but those caps were still holding 40 volts after about 3 days. the thing was shocking ( :sigh: ), 500 volts, and a massive current draw too... would blow u to pieces if u touched the wrong thing. yes it did have drain resistors over the caps... these caps were the size of toilet rolls, and rated to 1000v!

    Any ideas an how many amps in your average Us/Can wall socket? I touched wires connect to it once.

    Generally these are connected to a 15A breaker or fuse is residential applications. Sometimes you'll get a circuit that is on a 20 breaker, these are tipically in the kitchen area.
