    Maths 19/20

Anyone with a perfect score care to show their workout (with spoiler tags ;) ) for Q19, it's the only one I got wrong.

Can't be bothered doing the rest.

I worked backwards from the multi choice answers on that one, couldn't remember how to factor the equation but was easy to multiply the answers out

    (x+1)(x-1)
    X2+1x-1x-1
    x2-1

    (x+0)(x-1)
    x2+0x-1x-0
    x2-1x

    x(x-1)(x-1)
    x2-1x-1x+1
    x2-2x+1

    (x+2)(x-1)
    x2+2x-1x-2
    x2+x-2

    I would, but I'm too busy. :p

    Edit:
Out of curiosity, I actually looked at the problem. The last number in the equation is positive. Out of the possible answers, only one can give a positive number. Remember: First, Outside, Inside, Last; when you multiply the last digit in each set of parentheses, only one of the answer will be positive, the others are negative.

No need to waste time trying to work out the solution. It's right there in front of you. By the way, in order to quickly get to question 19, I answered B, or #2, for each question. That method gave me 6/20 correct. :)

Cheers guys. I'm a bit rusty since I last did this at high school.

Yeah it obvious as two negatives make a positive plus the correct median once multiplied out.

Why couldn't they put LU factorization in there, would easy do that ;/

Question 19 you don't need to work it out. Only brackets with two negatives in (x-1)(x-1) for example can produce an equation like that.

9/10 physics - hey, I don't know foreign wiring colors
    20/20 math

I won't do the others just yet as there's no need to embarass myself.

    16 for English (20)
19 for Maths (misread the tap question, though it said 4CL/min instead of 30s) (20)
10 for Physics. the only one I had problems with was the order of the planets but I worked that out from the other answers :D (10)
    French didn't work (12)
9 for Geography. I can't do place names, but everything else was OK (AS Geography Cheesecake, somehow I got 100% in a paper that I completely ballsed up, even leaving questions out!) (14)
6 for Biology. Ouch, shows how much I have forgotten since my solitary A* (12)
7 for History. I haven't done that for ages though, well before GCSE (12)
Ignoring French that is 76% UMS which might just scrape an A if that were an A level Maths paper.

A bit disappointing really, shame it wasn't rocket science!

    Yes!!!

Full marks on all of them :D

And I actually didn't cheat. I'm so pleased with myself. Might help myself to a cookie...:p

EDIT: Though this might be because I have studied all the topics at hand at school within the past 4 years at school.

I got 10/10 on the math and then gave up because it reminded me of school...

    English 15/20
    Maths 13/20
    Physics 7/10
    French 5/12
Geography 12/14 (I was a bit of a geography fiend at GCSE, those "where is this" questions where silly though.)
    Biology 5/12
    History 7/12

Well that was a brilliant way to kill time while I cannot sleep.

    18/20 English
    19/20 Math
    8/10 Physics
10/14 Geography (surprising... I suck at Geography)
    6/12 Biology (no surprise there)
5/12 History (again - not a real surprise)

I always was a hard sciences person :) I was never very good at Geography, Bio or history. I expected to ace the maths though. My trig let me down (and it was a simple trig question too!) My uni lecturer would have me taken out and shot!
