I have a XP2100+ and a Alpha PAL8045 and have temps around 45 would putting more of the plastic washers on the crews get better temps?

That temp could be a little high for the alpha, unless your case temp is realitvely high. I use all the washers with mine to provide a little more pressure and a supposedly better contact with the chip! Hope you are using Arctic Silver as well.

What is your case temp then, and how is the airflow through your case?

Hm, bit high for that case temp! Time to start checking things. Mind you, that is well within the limits of the CPU, and unless you are going to be seriously overclocking you may not want to worry too much!

I want to get a digidoc as the sensors I don't think are right and at the mo there are a lot of messy wires everywhere due to me just fitting the system together I also want better case fans as I am using the Papst super quiet ones and to be honest the sound of my 120mm fan does not bother me so I will get some fast ones. The ones I really want are the slear ones but don't know where to get them in the UK any ideas?

What's your room temperature? Mine's 22C, the case/mobo reads 23/24C, cpu 39C according to MBM5, so your's look ok to me.

If you've got as thin a coat of compound as possible, extra pressure won't help much.

OTOH, if you've put too much on it might squeeze a bit out. ;)
