Here's my new (ripped it out of the misses new laptop) slot loading blu-ray drive for my new project which you can find here http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?p=2122211&posted=1#post2122211 Anyone familiar with these slot loaders? mine's an Optiarc (Sony/NEC) BC5600S and it does not have an eject button (it was on the laptop's keyboard so I assume its ejected thru software) but does anyone know how I can add a hard eject button?
As far as im aware (going by my slot loader) its a case of right click>eject in windows. dont think you can add a physical eject button.
^ This. But personally, I'm a bit squeamish about taking apart slim drives, especially slot loaders. Very little tolerance to mess around with. Be careful if you go that route.
Can easily be done via windows, you can even create a shortcut to do it (and assign a keyboard combo) http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/create-a-shortcut-or-hotkey-to-eject-the-cddvd-drive/
if you can open it up.... maybe this tut will help you some http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=195508&page=13 see post #316
The slim drive in my Studio does not have any sort of manual eject, but I have yet to look at the pcb.
This (tutorial) was what I had in mind, except Im not familiar with the PCB of these slot loading drives
Anyone managed to open this sucker up? I had a go last night, but over than getting the top cover off, didn't know where to start. I have a doner IDE slot drive with a bezel (kinda fits) and eject / LED indicator PCB I'd like to try and fit, but on both drives just couldn't work out how to safely remove anything.
