    as stated in title, i have looked on the internet and to my numerous times but to no avail.

    basically with my little girls name being spelt differently to what you would expect, instead of spelling her name zoe my wife and i decided to spel it zoë, and going into charactor map all the time is a pain in the backside.

    so i was wondering if there was a way of binding keys or something where i press say the alt + shift + e or the ctrl + shift + e to get the ë?

    thanks

    why would you do that zoe is exactly the same as zoë when pronouced well actually i guess its slightly different

    zoe = zo i
    zoë = zo e

    The ë forces the E to be prnouced seperately in english although it can also be silent so i guess your daughters name is zo too.

    Zoë is the traditional spelling; Zoe is the modern spelling.

    adam_bagpuss, how do you pronounce toe or hoe...? :p

    In Word and some other apps, you get the umlaut by pressing CTRL & Shift & ; then pressing a vowel.
