Hey Guys, last year I paid a few hundred in tax, but never paid over the threshold. I never filled in a tax return form, so was wondering if it was possible for me to get that money back? I have a P60 but am at a loss of what to do Thanks.
It's simpler than you may think. Just write a letter to your tax office saying "Hi, paid too much tax last year, here are my workings, here is what you owe me, please send a cheque, let me know if you need anything else"
Your tax office address should be on any letter you've ever got from HMRC, if you can't find one you can send it to: HM Revenue & Customs Pay As You Earn PO Box 1970 Liverpool L75 1WX It really is a simple as this, make a copy of your P60 and send the original, they'll do the rest and send back a cheque and your P60. Then in any subsequent years, you can usually sort it over the phone.
