As title really, since about 2pm yestreday ive had a really bad cramp in my right leg, and cant straighten it out at all. Absolutly doing my head in, and im supposed to be going out to dinner later, cant go hopping around in the resturant.. Ive tried soaking itin the bath, trying (with great pain) to straighten it, and tried to massage it aswell.Nothing working tho! help! `P2D
Try bending your ankle to point your toes towards your head, stretching your calf muscle. works every time for me. AH
diet does it a lot. make sure ur getting right amounts of water and salt. in-activity does it too, i have a foot toy i play with at my desk, its two carryerbags, with lotsa bubblewrap inside, duck taped together. Great fun to play with.
I was just going to say massage. I'm serious - it's not that expensive for a 30-minute session and it's money VERY well spent. --- and for you pervs, that's not what I'm talking about
I tend to get it a bit in my foot, rubbing the muscles and then trying to straighten my foot out works for me.
Just put some deep heat on it, ive been sat trying to move it for hours and it hurts too damn much :/
Eddie's right. Milk also helps, too (or raid your mum's calcium supplements). Calcium, potassium, and salt are what you need. <med hat>Cramps happen when nerves fire accidentally and keep tensing a muscle even when it shouldn't be. they go on an endless loop and there's not enough calcium/potassium to reset the neuron, so the muscle stays in an 'on' state. This gets painful because of (1) constant strain since other opposing muscles are already active, following commands as they should, making it strain on its own with no help from its group and a lot of opposition, causing (2) lactic acid buildup in the muscle. </med hat> So, potassium, salt, and calcium, m'boy! Should help within a couple hours. THEN a massage to get the lactic acid out will help wonders.
well i think the deep heat did work, was just sat watching Scraphead challenge, applying copious (sp?) ammounts of deepheat then as i tried to move my leg, it just kept going with no pain.woot! and i also today tried moving my foot, massage some more, lots of water, a small(ish) pile of salt (eurgh), and then deepheat and a migrain tablet, well, thats my way to cure it.
Something that I'm surprised hasn't been mentioned yet.... Go see a doctor, especially if you get frequent cramps that don't go away on their own. It could be a sign of something more serious.
yestreday, for about 10 mins i batterd it, nothing happend. apart from it hurt more. Cramp for 27 hours vs never walking again. hmm..
also, did that last time i had cramps he just made me straighten it then said "Nothing i can do, let it sort itsself out".
