Topic says it all, really. Does anyone know how to easily and relatively painlessly disable the LEDs used with a Zalman CNPS-8700 cooler? I might be upgrading to a new case which is a bit more "see-through" than my current one and I'm not really into coloured fans. When I got the cooler it was a necessary evil and it didn't bother me as I never saw it shine through, but as said above this might change in the foreseeable future.
Best I can tell from pictures and memory from my old Zalman heatsinks, the only way to disable it, would be to remove the fan from the heatsink (not terribly hard to do, but I can't find a good link to demonstrate), remove the fan blade assembly from the base, and clip one of the leads to the LED that's in the base. Short of doing that, there's no 'easy' way to do it... The LED is hidden in the base of the fan.
Bummer... Thought as much. What's up with this current trend with garish colours all over the place...
*shrug* No idea... I'm with you though, the first thing I did when I got my 902 case in was removed the blue LED fans and replaced them with some lovely new Scythe S-Flex ones. At least the top fan has an option to turn the LEDs off...
