Is it possible to read the temp on the GPU without using an external physical temp probe?? I.e. something like Mobo monitor?? Ive got a 9800p No real reason - just curious to see what load im putting it under!
Cards above an ATi 9800 XT have built in probes, it's been known that you can fit them yourself if you run an LCD that supports probes.
Depends on the core of your card, if its an r360 then it does have a probe, if its an r350 then it doesn't, you would need to remove hsf to find out. Then flash to xt to use probe.
thanks for the replies guys! guess i'll never know what its up to then (r350 core), maybe i can use this as an excuse to buy a 6800 and sell my 9800p?!!!
Yup. It's a feature of all the XT cards (9600, 9800, X800) that they have temperature monitoring, not even the X800Pro does unless you can flash it to XT.
which cards support that feature? and ow do i find the temps? its just somethin thatll come in handy at work
