I tried to connect it via HDMI-diplayport cable from my PS3 to monitor does not work. Tried the same from my ATI 6870 to monitor does not work. It does work for DVI-D connection. I've googled and it seems that there is a problem with the diplay port on the this model. There is fix though I can't seem to find it. I now have it connected to my PC. HDMI-Displayport. It always goes into power save mode. However if I turn off/on the monitor I hear the notification sound from my PC (like when you plug in/unplug USB device) so I guess the computer knows something is there. However when I go to the device manager, I can't find anything different. I'm trying to connect my pc and ps3 to the monitor. PC via DVI and ps3 via the HDMI-displayport. Anyone got any ideas? The HDMI-DP cable (looks like this-found £5 on ebay): http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001S2PY...de=asn&creative=22218&creativeASIN=B001S2PYRI My Sapphire 6870HD has this: 1 x Dual-Link DVI 1 x HDMI 1.4a (tried the cable here to the DP on the monitor-failed) 2 x Mini-DisplayPort 1 x Single-Link DVI-D One sure method that will work is getting a DVI-VGA converter to convert the PC side and getting a HDMI-DVI converter for the PS3 side.
My Sapphire HD5770 supports HDMI to DisplayPort, and the XBOX 360 supposedly does too, so I bought a cable and tried it with my NEC EA231WMi-bk monitor (no HDMI) to see if I could play games on it. That was when I discovered that somehow my monitor does NOT support cables that convert HDMI to DisplayPort. I don't know how it knows or what difference it makes, but it isn't an option for me. I just read through the manual for my monitors and I couldn't find where I discovered that is isn't possible, except for the line "The monitor does not support DisplayPort converter signal." It may have been NEC support or an online forum. I understand this isn't your monitor, but you may unfortunately be in the same boat. Hope this helps anyway. Edit: As a workaround, perhaps consider HDMI-DVI for your PS3, and DP to Mini-DP for your PC. This is something I was planning on trying on Monday, when a friend is bringing me a spare HDMI-DVI cable. I read online that the DVI port for my particular monitor is HDCP compliant, and apparently that means it will work. I'll post again when I know.
Thanks. Same problem with you. Only way for HDMI to work is via the DVI port. So I'm waiting for a minidisplay to display port
I have the same monitor and have always connected my Saphire HD5770 to the Dell with a DisplayPort cable. And my PS3 connects with a HDMI-DVI cable. I have never had any problems with this setup! I have even added a second HD5770 for crossfire configuration all through the one DisplayPort connection. Do the same and you can't go wrong! - Great monitor, by the way - by far the best I have ever used. My PS3 games look even better than on my 32" HDTV.
