Graphics How to kill a £300+ gfx card (by me)

    Well this card:

    had a problem , it was overheating , so it was removed from the machine , and the EPOXY frozen in the freezer for 6 hours


    yes epoxy on the core


    well , i tried to remove the heatsink and this happened:

    Yes thats a DEAD Radeon X800 XT PE.

    I hope you can glue it back on and get it RMA'd or summat!

    For the record , it wasn`t me that epoxied the heatsink on.

    and btw, who the hell would epoxy a heatsink onto a videocard? I'd say they owe you some money.

    ouch.. I epoxyied a heatsink to a graphics card but only because it was passive and going to be attacked permently. (also it was a 5200 go figure :p)

    awwww that poor card unlucky mate :'(

    Just on1 Q, how could it over heat with that monster of a heatsink on it ?

    lol, I don't think that'll work, there's no way you can rip off part of a core with the stock heatsink.... (which is what you'd have to say as mods would void the warranty). :)

    im also quite interested how it was overheating with that huge cooler on it. wouldnt it have been the fan failing or something simple like that?
