So it should fit over the female plug, but inside the plastic cover?

Remove the cartidge from a Papermate FlexGrip pen (or similar) and you now have a male molex pin remover. If your a total nerd, it will also clip on your shirt pocket next to the slide rule. :D

Zap You can find the perfect size square brass tubing at a hobby shop for removing the 20 pin connectors. Usually they are in the architectural model parts section.

I made the female remover out of a digital coax cable and it worked fine (the one that looks like an audio plug). I had to remove the inner material and I was still having trouble with bending the pins forward. I found out that the tool is not long enough so I cut some of the material from the fat part of the plug to get clearance...

Any one found the 20pin tool in the UK now, for such a prolific mod they are very hard to get hold of, you would think that the companies that sell the actual molexes would sell the tool too.

are u using a mono plug. after u cut off the tip, the mono has a longer shaft than the stereo and will reach the tabs on the molex pins

for the male removal tool all you need is one wire and chip thingie, removed form the female ones then you just put it over the male and put the wire out, easy cheap and finds a use for old dead PSU cables

    now for iggys way.

take el cheapo ballpoint pen (bic, whatever)

remove inside. use inside to remove molex pins. for female molexes all you need to do is cut the pen cartridge down the middle a wee ways.
