So I've got a win2003-box at home that I use VNC to control. Everything has been working fine with it for the last 1,5 years but a few days ago it decided it was a good time to reboot (windows update maybe...) but it somehow crashed along the way and is now only displaying "Windows is shutting down..." I'm currently about 500km away from the computer and will be for the next two months so I don't have physical access to it. Does anyone have any bright ideas to how I can make it reboot?
call someone nearby maybe? Other than that I doubt there is anything that can be done. Unless you can somehow get the power to the building its in cycled.
The ultimate VNC conundrum! There really is no answer except to get physical access tbh. Aren't there some IP-based KVM's which connect to the mobo headers in case of this?
you can get network enable PDU (power distribution unit's) so you can turn power on and off remotley but uinless you already have one installed your only option is someone with physical access
An idea... Remote management. I'm trying to log in but I can't really get it to work. http://www.goatsgotohell.com/gnux/bilder/logon.PNG If my username is administrator and password is X what should I type here?
Best post ever! AFAIK you cant do anything from within VLC, though if you have one of them things on your mobo which makes the computer turn on with certain network activity maybe that could be abused to trip a restart ?
