Guys, how do you send your PC monitors? I tried many different couriers and many of them dont want to insure PC monitor DHL said they will but I would need to pay £70 for it! How does OCUK or Scan do that?! I dont think they £70 for each monitor they sell! Do you guys know any good and not expensive way to do it?
Pack it as if you're packing a new born child, then chuck it in at your PO or courier tell them it's just some electronics.
I don't think they buy insurance at all. Paying for the occasional lost or damaged package is much, much cheaper than insuring every single one they send out. But since they more than likely have a contract of sorts with whatever service they use, that might include some form of insurance.
Generally I put the package into a plain exterior box and don't tell them what's inside... they don't need to know, when insuring a package you should only need to give them a rough estimate of the value of the item. I've never been questioned about what's inside the box so far.
Sorry, maybe I mixed it up - I meant compensation, from damage or whatever. They exclude pc monitors from damage compensation. DHL told em they will insure the package for £70 That is a bit too much for 24" monitor that I sold for £200...
Have you tried booking delivery through the Parcels2Go website? They have a pretty simple system for booking delivery through a mixture of couriers and their compensation cover system is quite reasonable: "£50 compensation cover is included Free of Charge. You can cover your parcel up to a maximum value of £1,000 at a cost of 5% of the value of the item – your free allowance will be deducted from this calculation. For example, if your item is worth £140, then the cost of covering your item would be (£140 - £50) * 5% = £4.50 "
I don't believe I can find any restrictions on what compensation is paid out on for Royal Mail Special Next Day Delivery. That covers you for £500.
