    Hi !

How do I find out what resistor I have to use, if want to cut the power in a curcuit ? For example if I want to cut a 12V line to 7V ? What's the formula to use for this task ? Sorry for my crappy English, I have to get used to it again ...

    Cheers

I don't believe you can figure that out without knowing the amount of current required by what ever needs the 7v.

Assuming this is for use in a puter... why not use both the +12 and +5 leads in a molex connector hook the + lead to your circuit to the yellow and the - lead to the red and viola +7v.

If you are planning to run a medium power device, the 12/5 trick isn't recommended. Use a 7807 regulator chip. Simple setup. 12V in one side, middle to ground and 7V out the other side.
