    Start> Control Panel> System

Under the general tab it will tell you if it's x64 or not!

If you type "winver" into the Start->Run box it will tell you about which version of Windows you have installed. If you don't know which version is installed then it will almost certainly be 32-bit however.

    edit:too slow!!

    32-Bit.

Unless you specifically buy Windows XP 64Bit it'll be 32Bit

You have to BUY a 64-bit edition and install that in order for you to actually have a 64-bit edition!

Once you install the 64-bit edition Windows then Windows will take use of your 64bit cpu.

If you think you should run 64-bit XP, think again.
It sucks balls bigtime cos its buggy as hell and poorly supported for drivers etc. :(

definately 64 bit vista, 64 bit is the future, and soon enough 32 bit will be far outdated =P

The real question is, what's the x86 version? *stumped*

(haven't really read bugger all about vista, and apologies if i end up hijacking, it's none intentional but might benefit you too!)

x86 just refers to the 32bit architecture used by PCs- they're still 32bit, and x64 is used by 64bit PCs and Macs.
