I'm really concerned that VR will come and go as rapidly as 3D TV/displays/video.
So I'm surprised HTC has such confidence in it. Although.. spinning it off does prevent a sinking of the mothership if things go foul I guess?

The problem with 3D TV is that they thought every single person would be into it and when there was only a percentage of people embracing it everybody ran. And I'm pretty sure VR is also going to be a percentage of people that will like it, which is the reason I worry that the companies will all run once again leaving us with nothing.
I don't get why the industry thinks you can't make money on something 'only' 10-15 percent of the people go for. I guess they are afraid of their own shadow as it were, that is to say their own projection being off.
