    Hi,

I have never built a HTPC before but I am confident in my ability to do so. However, I am not confident in choosing the right parts for the task.

So far, I have chosen -

Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H H55 Socket 1156 VGA DVI HDMI Out 8 CHannel Audio ATX Motherboard

    intel Core i3 530 2.93GHz Socket 1156 4MB L3 Retail Box Processor

    Corsair 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz XMS3 Memory Kit CL7(7-8-7-20) 1.65V Unbuffered Non-ECC

XFX HD 5770 1GB XXX Edition GDDR5 Dual DVI HDMI DisplayPort PCI-E Graphics Card

Antec Fusion Remote Veris Black MATX Media Center Case - No PSU

Western Digital WD20EARS 2TB Hard Drive SATAII 64MB Cache - OEM Caviar Green

    Corsair 500W CX PSU - 5x SATA 2x PCI-Express

I already have the CD-Drive and ordered the antec fusion case, but I just want to make sure the other parts are either compatible or if there are better/cheaper alternatives that will give a similar level of performance.

    Any input is most welcome.

    thanks

Looks solid to me. Are you going to also game on the HTPC? If so, the HD5770 makes sense, but if it's only for playing movies, any lower-spec (well namely the passively cooled HD5450) will do just as well.

Yes a little, nothing too intensive but I would like to have the option to run most games over the past 5 years or so.
