I'm looking for a suggestion for a HTPC Home Theater Case compatible with a full size motherboard, like the Asus Striker Extreme. I had someone ask me to reccomend one, and while I know a lot about computers HTPC is not something I have ever dealt with.

This is what they want to put in it:

    Asus Striker Extreme
    E6750
    PCP&C Silencer 750w
    OCZ PC2-6400 2x1gb
    XFX GeForce 8800 GS 384MB

They are considering the Silverstone Lascala LC17 case, and are dead set on HTPC. Suggestions?

well a case is really down to what you personally like in style.

I would have a look here

there not the cheapest around, but gives you an idea of whats best.

i would say money on the CPU and go with a E2xxx series as clock speed isn't really needed in a HTPC, the 8800GS will be great as its low thermal output.

Go quiet and cool, also consider a single big disk, like a spinpoint 750Gb, a single disk will help keep the heat down.

Wow... that's not really an HTPC, unless they game too [Striker Extreme wtf? Overpowered processor/vid card wtf?]. Lian-Li has some desktop FF cases that might fit full-ATX boards, but I'm not sure. If you can wait, the Antec Fusion Max is coming out soon, which is a bigger, full-ATX version of the Veris Fusion case [which I own - it's very nice :D]

If they want the case to blend in with their other A/V stuff, Lian-Li's cases fade into the background pretty well, as do a lot of other plain aluminum cases. And in case your friend is crazy, for extremeness to the max they should look into the Thermaltake Mozart TX...

One thing I was wondering about the Mozart, is that how can you use two motherboards at once in one system ???

Zalman! Gorgeous cases if you're willing to pay for it. Check Kustom and QuietPC.

We've just got one in this week with touch screen LCD display - £300+ though :eeek:

the silverstone lc17 is really nice for the money, but it is really big, and the small fans on the back were quite loud.
i had to sell it as it wouldnt fit in my av rack :(

check out the omaura cases from www.specialtech.co.uk
    http://www.specialtech.co.uk/spshop/customer/home.php?cat=667

they are really nice and have a kind of modular setup for screens and storage etc...

origenAE and DIGN also make nice cases too.
