This is for all those guys and gals that are building a HTPC. I have messed around witht the software a little and I thought you'll would want to know about it. Well that is if you don't already know about it. Here is the link!
thanks for the link oujias making me a custom box at the moment and i might stick it ontop of the 21" in getting and use this would be wicked in bed and all that, plys i already have an ir controller thanks to meblin and a tv out on an old 3d prophet ddr dvi card.
you could easily make your own in linux use x to make some custom gui. have a look at waimea just like fluxbox but without anything on the screen, no bars nothing just a right click menu. im sure you would be able to "edit" it too suit ure needs
Linux is also quite easy : http://dancevision.blub.be/genbox/ (site in dutch) This uses gentoo, freevo and mplayer. Works nicely. (no screenshots on the site though )
i dunno ... looks kinda cheezey to me ... i prefer just straight xp pro personally... but i dont have a tv card in my htpc, i just switch inputs on the tv between the puter and the digi cable box ... mine is more of a component than a total system ... it just replaced moms dvd player ,giving it the ability to watch all sorts of movies (her old dvd player sucked, no mp3 or vcd support) and play music and surf da web...
Ok well... I was thinking of doing something like this, however I do not have the programming skills. Anyway, I downloaded the program, however I can't get it to play avis or mpegs. Under the player tab in my HTPC you can specify a player plugin, however where do you get that from and do you really need it? I just can't get it to play anything! Help!
There are far more polished and professional looking alternatives out there, one in particular that I can't remember the name of. I'll update this post shortly as soon as it comes to me.
