This is one slick looking mod. I can't wait to see more of it. The white just makes it so clean and 'crisp'
    Quick Questionish:
I just got a pair of Koss UR-15's from a friend, One a UR-15 w/ connector, and one UR-15C without a connector, and just the 4 wire at the end.
Now I bought a 3.5mm Stereo plug for it, and it has 3 poles. i'm assuming it L+, R+ and common ground(2 wires attached)? How do I go about connecting the wires to the plug?

Very interesting approach. Having completed a FLAC jukebox myself, I'm digging this already! I especially like the jacks on the front--that's something I would have never thought of.

In fact, I might just have to add that to my jukebox.

Re do this picture to have the full connector in the shot and you will have a lovely photo for some photo competitions.
Can't wait to see more pics.

Well it was Red/copper on the right, and Green/copper on the left. I did as you said an attached the two copper wires to the longest rod, the attached the red to the second longest, and the green to the shortest.
I have no sound through them. Do you think I have a short somewhere?

wow, that's one clean workplace! You just proved that audiophiles are a very different kind of geek

Anyway, this is a very promising start, i'm going to follow this! :thumb:

One thing that comes to mind for me is the GPU.. i found that 9600 a very noisy bugger, even at low fanspeed. Not a problem for everyone, but for you it's a definate concideration I should think.
You say the PC is going to be portable. Where and how are you planning on using it?

I can't wait to see the finished article. As Xtrafresh said, this is going to be a very clean mod.

    Questions:

What kind of cable did you use for the k701's?
    converted it to double-entry?

Ever heard the K701 through an Eddie Current Zana Deux?

yep sucks to be a college student. i'm curious to see how the mod as a whole will look. the shots are just bits and pieces, its like youre teasing us with them.

Reminds me of [thread=145744]project MUM[/thread] that was posted here a while ago. This guy wasn't as much an audiophile as you, he just wanted his PC to operate in dead silence. Might be a useful resource for some tricks and tips ;)

The cooler seems a great idea :)
Other then that, i think the noisiest parts in your PC will be the HDDs and whatever is left of the PSU cooling :p
Especially that Raptor could benefit from some padding.
