    Got my loop leaktested yesterday.

Only problem is, when I turned the pump on for the third time the impeller jammed. A quick look up on several forums and it's a known problem and a fix is to give the axel a rub down with some wet and dry.

That fixed it and the pump ran 2 hours being turned on and off about 7 times. Was just about to boot her up when I turned it off and back on...dead :miffed:

The impeller is damaged beyond repair now, my only hope is that I can find a replacement rather than have to buy a new pump. Any ideas where I can find one?

    Thanks

Man that is ultra bad news Leeum..........set-up looks great :thumb:

I know a lot of these pumps have leak issues so i would imagine quite a few people will have a leaky one lying around with a good impeller so its time to trawl the W & F/S sections i guess.

Good look finding one Leeum as this is undeserved for the amount of work you put in.

    Cheers Paul :thumb:

As a shot in the dark I gave Hydor UK a ring and the guy said he should be able to sort me out tomorrow when the office is open :)

It seems Hydor's quality control isn't up to scratch so the shafts are manufactured slightly too thick, as the pump gets hotter the tolerance gets tighter to the point where the magnet seizes.

The impeller I have is damaged as a plastic thing snapped off, hopefully a new one will sort it. Let's just say, next time it's an Eheim ;)

Time to order some Zerex aswell, the setup was like a washing machine in that picture.

Well it was way too below the belt to say "i told you so" but i'll say it anyway :D (sorry dude)

Its probably been the broken impeller that was churning up the water so much so hopefully with the new one it might sort that problem out.

Lets see what Hydor UK come up with......fingers x'd for you dude.

Well good news. Got a call from Hydor UK today, the guy looked in the warehouse and couldn't find an impeller, instead there's a spangly new L30 in the post to me :naughty:

I'm off on holiday for a week on Friday so it looks like i'll have to get the loop working again after that :thumb:
