Before you install a Motherboard, make sure that your metal supports actually go where screw holes in your motherboard are. a bad place for them is in the middle of a ram slot, where it can bend and short out the pins making your computer *slightly* unstable. Hehe yeah I did that once too only it was underneath teh IDE socket.... my HDD was making funny noises as well until i figured out what was wrong.
One of my friends did a similar thing, but the mounting bracket was directly under the power connector from the PSU!! Apparantly it didn't go bang or anything, but the motherboard never worked again!
Well when I was 11/12, building my first system, I didn't realise that spaces were needed at all. I screwed the mobo directly onto the tray. What's that crackling noise I thought to myself? Suffice to say I had to get mummy to buy me a new mobo.
