From this thread plus others I haven’t looked for! https://forums.bit-tech.net/index.p...-for-a-medal-display-box.387322/#post-4959912 I’ve been in hospital for a number of days now bordering on the two week mark. The L2 vertebrate finally gave in to the weight above it which rendered me unable to pee or poop properly and unable to get out of bed. They took a really decent MRI scan (considering my legs would keep going into spasm) and went in to support the spine with rods and staples. It’s not a permanent fix but it takes the pressure off and I can move without too much pain and the pee only takes a few seconds to come instead of up to ten minutes. They have other thoughts for it plus another cancer pushing against T8. Using my zimmer again for the time being. The problem with surgeries like this is I have to stop taking the cancer treatment. And this time around it’s pretty damn obvious I’ve got it still. The tennis ball on my left kidney is much bigger allowing for visual distension plus I have lots of little lumps that have spring up between the ribs meaning any movement at all causes concern. The nice people at MRI want to see me again about my right shoulder for possible replacement as it’s all up in there too. But that’s another decision for another day. But the best news is I HAVE been released to travel by the surgeon team and I can start my tablets in five days which is the biggest juggling contest I’ve ever been part of. On top of all this, constipation for 11 days, then enema, then what you’d expect, then three days of nothing to finally ten minute bog bombs! Think I got it all out of my system last night. My aim is to get to Monday and hope there’s a bed at Farleighs Hospice which is my current preference to move to (it’s 15 minutes for Sarah and the kids in the car instead of an hour each way to Ipswich, I get my own room and I could probably move my PC in (which has, unfortunately, been claimed by wifebot2000). Farleighs Hospice is a charity in Chelmsford so you can feel comfortable of having your car tyres being nicked when you pop in to make a donation… or just go to their website and donate there - the link is easy enough to find! I’ll keep posting until I can’t! Love you lot and see you on the flibberty blip! ian
Thanks for the update and letting us know you're still with us Ian. Belated Birthday wishes, welcome to the 50s. Strength to you, do keep in touch.
Ditto what Tre says Ian. I happened to be thinking yesterday about how it was all going, glad to see you post! Don't know what to say except we're thinking of you bud and, one of my favourite Māori affirmations, kia kaha.
Hey Ian, I'm so sorry to hear about the challenges you've been facing with illness. It's incredible to see you posting despite everything you've been through. I'm so glad to hear that you've been released to travel and can start your tablets soon. Belated Birthday Wishes. Stay strong!
Sorry to be lowbrow about all this, but I just can't stop trying (and failing) to imagine what 11 days of constipation looks like when it finally comes out. Hope you get access to a PC of some description, smartphones suck!
The campfire scene of Blazing Saddles comes to mind, only.. echo-ier. Hope you get your rig relinquished from the grip of wifebot asap!
No idea what to say (for once). Keep on fighting, keep on having fun as much as possible. We're all with you
Finally home… wife had to come and pick me up because my confirmed booking for one o’clock pm wasn’t high enough priority as I was out of catchment area for my local hospital (specialist spinal surgery happens in Ipswich so it couldn’t be helped). For the same reason that my confirmed booking for tomorrow might also have been moved, Sarah was able to come and get me and bring me home to Braintree. It’s weird how NHS Trusts have access to different things such as Xray imaging but not the write up that goes with it without having to request it from the relevant doctor! But still, home now with community nursing from the hospice helping out with equipment I need (they don’t specialise in bedside computer tables, however). Thanks again for the love and I’ll post whenever I get a relevant update - unless it’s the most important update in which I won’t be posting much at all! Love - Ian
I just love how they shoved the emmy in the turd at the end. You know that was what they wanted to do and then worked backwards into how you make that happen. Bono being an actual crap is icing on the cake.
I’m out of hospital and back home on a hospital bed with plenty of drugs to keep me company. Glad to be home for Xmas even though I wasn’t sure what the day was just ten minutes ago!
Not knowing what day it is is my speciality, along with "what did I come in here for?", and "where's that thing I had 5 minutes ago that's definitely not still in my hand or in front of my face". Hope you enjoy your time at home with your family.
