And I wasn't that impressed really. I got to play Forza, and it was a bit sharper (Better AA?) and the controller felt a bit better (Don't think they needed to spend $100 Million inc R&R on it compared to the last one).

Fifa 14 generally looked the same as it would on the Xbox 360 and the dashboard looked the same.

To be fair they were the only two games there, so maybe the others will be better, but not massively impressed with it. Be interested to see how Ryse plays. Didn't make me decide to cancel my PS4 pre-order though, and I used to be a massive Xbox fan.

I don't know about you but, the controller felt cheap when I got to play BF4, and the trigger buttons are terrible.

The "metro" themed dashboard is cheesy imo. I am like you, I am pretty disappointed - PS4 is defintely on the agenda for my next console.

If you had asked me a year ago about the next gen consoles I would have been really excited and really looking forward to hearing any sort of detail about them. Now I have the PC I have and with the games looking the way they do on a PC these days (GPU permitting) Iam really not that stoked at all about either of them. The games line up is poor, the only console only title Iam interested in is Destiny and the others will be out on PC and look a lot better anyway. I really think the delay of Watchdogs has left a big hole in both of the line-ups. We (the PC world) had PS4 and XboxOne a few years ago in terms of performance so its nothing new to us. The amount of times Ive said "they've looked like that on the PC for ages" is boring me now. I would much rather at this point just SLI 770. I guess Iam just a little disappointed in them.

I went to an event at my local Game on Saturday.

Played Ryse, Forza & Dead Rising and due to there not being many there, there was opportunities to play multiple times. My thoughts are as follows:

Forza - is just Forza except prettier than before. Reasonable load times.

Dead Rising - Again more Dead Rising however I will say that I love these games and like the newer darker theme, yes the humour is still there but it's not as full on as say 1 or 2. Didn't get a chance for any phone/tablet support but honestly surprised at how smooth this demo looked. Oh yeah demo had horrible load times :(

Ryse - This was a surprise. I'd seen the video and I watched people playing it before me. The videos have all looked so QTE themed that I didn't preorder, the people in before me weren't impressed as they thought it was all button mashing and I'm not going to say that it can't be played like that but when I had my first turn I too a step back worked out the buttons and then really f***ing enjoyed it. Getting the combos to work and smashing heads without getting touched felt great, throwing the spears felt like it would take a while to get sorted and I have my concerns about the way the story will go and how long it'll be but for me this is what I need for a new console, a new ip. This may be flawed upon release because at the end of the day I played 2 or 3 very specific sections of the game in the demo and it won't appeal to a lot of people but from what I played I had to add it to my preorder list just to hope it's all as good as the demo. Also 4 player online co-op which is always nice.

Controller - I thought was fine much like the 360 pad and until you get a new one out of the box you don't really know how long the controllers have been abused for.

Maybe as the controller was more used playing BF4 than it will Forza, it might have shown more. I preferred how it felt in my hand, would take me a while to get used to the placement of it all (As I'm so used to the 360 controller).

Main thing with both the games, is they felt just like 360 games. There never felt like a leap between the consoles.

I did a bit of next-gen video watching on Youtube the other day and I got that impression too. I think the games will generally have larger world's and they'll be more going on, more complexity, but visually there is not a significant leap forward that you would want if you were about to drop £350+ on a new console, not if you're used to PC gaming anyway.

Played both at Eurogamer seemed fine, nothing really wowed me but it's console launch stuff, basically felt like the consoles were finally coming some way to getting closer to PC level of fidelity, obviously not all the way there but good enough for your HD TV in the front room.

first PS4 XBone face off is on Eurogamer

    BF4 ps4 and x1

    1600x900 on ps4, 720p on x1 both at 60fps.
