congrats on the big sales guys!!!   i remember the old days of retail and selling to people that had NO clue what they were talkin about. workin the PC dept was awesome. :D:D:D:D:D now it's fun to go in there and mess with the sales kids about the PCs and technology. they try to spit out so much sales jargin its not funny. then you get to make them look stupid. :D:D:D:D to this day i still end up helping people when someone tries to sell them old outdated equipment just to get rid of it.

If I get employed by ST or Intel, I would SO go into PC world, get the marketing spiel about products that are made by those companies, and then say

"I work for blah. Are you trying to tell me my job? I'll tell you yours instead. You're talking ****."

The most I sold in one day was 13k's worth of stuff, but i have known people to sell miles more than me. But I told the truth, if I didn't know about something I told them that. The coverplan is not worth it on most things, but if I brought a big plasma screen I would buy the cover. We had a screen go on us @ work and it cost £600 for the repair on a £5000 screen.
One girl I worked with tried to sell a person autoroute when he came in for a router, she also sold a machine with a 16 bit soundcard to a bloke who wanted to create music. That wasn't the worst bit, the worst bit was it was a compaq machine

customer: excuse me - could you tell me where the bread is?

me (standing in front of the bread sections, next to the bakery, one hand on a 9 foot high stack of bread, the other clutching a loaf of kingsmill): *blinks*

customer: the bread. loaves. used to make sandwiches? do you know where it is?

    me: *blink*...*stare*

    customer: fine then... *storms off*

    me: *blink*

unfortunately that happens 2 or 3 times a shift :(

i hate having to work on the shop floor

    i hate the public

and on coverplan - why do they try and pimp a £60 plan when you just bought a £30 portable CD player?

    they actually said that

'it'll give you peace of mind should anything go wrong over the next three years'

    i countered with:

'but it only costs 30 quid, i'll just buy a new one, you rabid spastic!'

That is pure class, even having the balls to try and sell a £60 cover for a £30 product.

Bet there are folks out there who have bought it as well, the same folks who buy from PC World
