Personally, I´d never put a ccfl in my computer.. not after seeing the pics of melted inverters that destroyed expensive hardware.. go with LEDs instead!

its up to you to think whatever.

i reckon the inverter only blew because the guy left his CCFL on for way too long. thats y u have a switch to turn them off

I think its pretty comical how an article such as we have seen as of late has caused so many people to worry and freak out about cathodes lol.

I have installeed over 100 of them have seen 2 come back because of bad lamps and one where an inverter didnt work but no houses burning down yet.

Sounds like a fear monging article to me and he probably deserved his system to do that from incompetence.

i guess its the fact of being safe, and staying safe.

dont take the risk of leaving the CCFL's for too long of periods.
they not only can damage your expensive equipment but oneday while you are proberly sleeping may even take your life.

I plan on buying one, but only turning it on for certain occasions, like LAN parties. There is little chance of somone's house burning down, because everything's inside the conputer case.

how do u break a CCFL?! Isn't it a result of carelessness? I've got 5 dirt cheap ebuyer ones and they've survived at lot of "re-arranging"

    btw, 250th post!
