I have an awesome cooling system, but don't know where to go from here. I am curious now that I have this system, what can I do with it? Any recommendations? I would like to have something far better than you can buy off of the shelf(OTS) but still have the stability of an OTS system. Any help is welcome.

What is this 'cooling system' you have? A DIY compressor jobby like a Prommie of Vapochill?

Ahahaha, you mean like a Compaq? :hehe: Trust me, anything you make properly yourself will be far better than what the monkeys put together...

The big boys for overclocking at the moment are the mobile barton cpus - I've heard of several people getting them up in the realms of 2.7Ghz with vapour-change cooling. (PR =about 4000+)

btw.... make sure you have lots of neoprene... I have condensation problems with the evap at -28'C (core -2'C) from time to time...

Yes, and thank you I am happy to be here.

Thank you for the warm welcome.

I am receiving a custom cooling system capable of holding temperatures between -100C & +60C (+/- 20C). Basically a solution looking for a problem. I just want to build a computer to justify the cooling system by providing massive horsepower.

How about this one? Would a 64bit CPU be better?

How do these look? Does anyone have any knowledge about 64 bit processors? I am really trying to make something much faster than a person can buy OTS (justify the $$ to the wife).

    barton CPU
What do you think I could get out of this?

    64bit CPU
OR!, What do you think I could get out of this?

or if the money holds out...
    Opterons
could I get this to perform

    better than this?

as for the barton.. it will prolly be locked.. this will kepp you down if your cooler is as massive as -100c..
at that speed i would opt for AMD64.. Maybe Athlon FX-53.. But then you will be better off waiting a short while for the new chipsets to arrive. it is complex right now..
As an alternative you could look at the Prescotts.. i think they would scale great with a cascade(?) like yours.. The P4EE is performing great.. but its a hefty tag it carries..
if you are going to buy NOW and dont like problems go for at mobile barton or a P4 with that cooler.
If you like fiddling around the A64's are the kings. but the problem will be the missing agp/pci locks..

Some of the newer a64 boards available have working pci/agp locks

I cant see you getting near 3ghz to be honest mate, not being harsh but the people that have have years of experience tweaking and modding computers to run at the top of thier ability. Someone new to overclocking/building computers as you sound to be may get 2.5ish or possibly more i'd guess

only if u get one with the via chipsets, nforce 150 chipsets have locks on iirc.

I can't see anything other than the nForce3 250 being king of the AMD chipsets in the near future...

I think theres a new via cipset coming out soon to have agp/pci locks and reports show it performing VERY well, i'll try and find a few links

and it has working PCI locks afaik
