Every time I come home from work and first touch my mouse I get an electric shock!:eeek: It's static I assume but why? It seems to have started since i got my new case (Silverstone FT02). I've noticed the window on the case also seems to get quite static.

Is it something to do with grounding? I know almost nothing about that sort of thing. What could I have done wrong when I installed the components into my new case. All I did different was not use those red cardboard washer things on the motherboard because I read you don't need them but I'm starting to wonder if that's correct.... :worried:

Oh and my psu has a grounding wire, I screwed it to one of the standoffs under the motherboard, is that right?

Hmm, you sure its your mouse? is it's case plastic? If so im not sure how this could happen?

Might it be your chair? I know that in some of the room at my school, the chairs give out static shocks.

The thing is, this only started happening since I installed my components in my new case. Nothing else has changed but I didn't get static before :\

Have you noticed anything else strange recently? Really good hearing? Super strength? The ability to shoot spider silk out of your butt? The ability to turn the TV channel over just by thinking about it?

Just wondering you see, your super power could be electricity based!

Don't worry, an electric super power is really cool. Mine's is based on tomoatoes which is really lame!

    Good luck with the costume.

Oh and if it isn't a new budding super power then check all your case connections, it sounds like you may have a dodgy earth.

I would be tempted to try another psu just the same .
Have you tried disconnecting the ground wire .

well im about to buy a nice i5 upgrade today so i'll leave the ground wire off. Do i need to use those silly little red cardboard washers on the stand offs?

I always zap myself (static buildup from the Uni desk chair and my jumpers) whenever I touch the case. Try different shoes, or maybe a different coat or something?

Never seen a PSU with an earth wire, but that's nothing do with it.
