Tell me about the Friggin salt in Michigan, I have a 3 year old car that already has some spots of "Hidden Rust" and it's due to the roads HERE where I live in Michigan. When I lived further north, about 300 miles further north, they did not salt the roads. The plowed them and sanded them... The sand has a lot of benefits. It doesn't corrode the car, it melts the snow when it's sunny out, and it doesn't freeze over as bad as salt when the temperature reaches -30F (which was a warm day during January in Houghton Michigan, find a map of the US, then Michigan, then look in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, then look as far north as you can go IN Michigan) I know there are colder places, but not many. Being surrounded on all sides by Lake Superior has it's disadvantages, one of them being the cold, the other Lake effect snow.

Anyways, Where in Michigan did you live? I am in Traverse City, to the northwest of the Lower Peninsula.

My old Volvo has a bit of rust on the doors now, my exaust was totally rotted had away so I got a nice new exaust erlier in the year the car sounded a lot better after that.

A couple of years ago I was driving back from a wedding reception which was in a small remote village with tiny twisty curvy roads. I drove around a corner which which half way through turned into ice the car started to slide and the back end went into a fish tail, I took my foot off the accelerator and managed to correct my self out of the skid but my heart was pumping pritty fast after that.

I drove much slower the rest of the way home.

Last year I went to the cinema and the car park was pure ice, just pulling away you could wheel spin in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears.

Hey Pflu... at least you have a view of the bay :)
SE michigan has the same crappy roads, all the salt, and nothing pretty to look at :eyebrow:

only car of mine without rust is the one that gets garaged all winter :worried:

:waah: this looks like it will be the last winter for my tahoe. unfortunatly its starting to rust away. it dosent suprise me. i dont see many trucks as old as mine with no rust on them. the roads here suck. there oversalted and they very windy. i will probably have to trade it in for a shiny new H2. hell if i can get $12k for my truck i will be happy.

You're not even thinking about buying a H2?!?

Those things are an insult to the original Hummer.

They're just some POS underpowered 4x4 with a hulking body slapped ontop. 1MPG and 0-60 in 3 decades. :)

Underpowerd? there 300 horses stock, throw on a super charger and you can easly get at least 600. ive seen them do 12 second 1/4 miles and 0-60 in about 4.5 seconds. oh yea they get 20MPG. thats better than what my tahoe gets (12mpg).

Pflumingo, i lived in Ann Arbor. i know what you mean about sand, they do it that way in the sierra's too. i think all who have liven in MI agree that UP is gorgeous and SE (ie detroit area) is spartan (hate spartans, hehe).

nobody mentioned anthony's while i was there. going from the excellence of a^2 restaurants in general i'm sure they're good. i don't mind paying extra for good pizza.

i lived near N campus since i transfered and had all but 2 GE classes in central campus. unfortunately i mostly ordered from DaVinci's and domino's. btw, domino's in MI tastes awesome compared to the stale stuff we get in CA. 2 places i'll eat the next time i visit a^2: domino's and anthony's (ok, maybe 4: D'Amato's and Casey's Tavern).

    froggy: is goodfella's in a^2?

RaptorLord, of course i knew that (i'd have to live in a vaccuum not to). i suppose a^2 and surrounding area domino's get fresh ingredients, and californian's get stuck with frozen airmail. i thought the roaming buffalo at domino farm's were interesting.
