Especially your offer. Seriously, sort your life out.

You're offering people someone to talk to either because you're so massively starved of human contact that you want someone, anyone, to talk to you, or because your self-confidence is so utterly lacking and messed up that you feed on others appreciating your "awesome" listening and advice skills. I'd bet on the latter. Really you're just prostituting out your time and ability to give-a-**** about people who mostly don't need it in order to get the feel good or praise based pay off.

    Consider taking up a hobby.

When I was going through some bad stages a few years ago I often found that talking to someone I didn't know, or more importantly didn't know me worked quite well. That way nobody goes into anything with any preconceived ideas about what the other person is like.

Film. Singular. There never were any sequels, OK?

I didn't say it was an unfair point to make it's just the level of aggression used based on little information suggests a deeper, more personal, experience.

That's just how spec talks. I didn't take to it at first, I think it's far too full on. But after a while I realised that's just his way and now I try to read just the content (which is usually interesting), not the tone.

And Nexxo, there *were* sequels and if you rewatch them and look at them from a philosophical angle (which I would hope you would be capable of) there's a lot of interesting allegory to be pondered. Plus some fantastic set pieces.

Fair enough. I was just surprised at the level of aggression. Mind you interpreting how something is meant from just text isn't the easiest thing to do.

Caps lock does not make you louder Nexxo. How dare you forget that rule.

Also, Third film has A.P.U's shooting the crap out of 250,000 Sentinals! I gave up with the storyline when they tried to make Neo a messiah of humanity... then I watched it for explosions and ninja's!

    NINJA's NEXXO NINJA's! YOU CAN'T EXPLAIN THAT

Not knowing exactly what one did for a living .. I looked it up and found >>>
    Job description

Clinical psychologists aim to reduce the distress and improve the psychological well-being of clients. They use the psychological methods and research to make positive changes to their clients’ lives and will offer various forms of treatment.

(see just giving me gifts would work, expensive ones mind you or merely offering to tidy up the place)

I'm the therapist* (BF) to a Clinical Psychologist and I know for a fact that in the Job Requirements there is the following:
I must admit I'm still not comfortable asking her how many clients she's seeing on any given day. ;):D

    * not a qualified therapist, just a qualified boyfriend. :D

HmyeahOK. Fair point. You can't argue with the ninja's.

You're not kidding. All Clinical Psychologists have a 'clinical supervisor', or even a personal therapist, to help them reflect on how their own stuff impacts on their work.

The first rule of Therapist Club is: It is never about you.
The second rule of Therapist Club is: It is always about you.

You always bring your own stuff into the therapeutic relationship. That is not necessarily a bad thing as long as you are aware of it --you can then use it as a tool. If you are not aware of it however, it can be immensely destructive. Being a therapist involves above all being self-aware, and sorting your own **** out first before you help others sort out theirs.

I know, I'm not sure how anyone could do the job without having someone to talk to. We did our first degree together so I can talk things through, not specifics about clients of course, but when you have suicides and so forth to deal with you can't bottle it up.

Me, my speciality was the neurobiology and neurophysiology of behaviour which probably works as a good counterbalance for my GF who was always for the talky talky.

I don't think therapists ever sort their own **** out altogether. :D

I think that's what makes a good therapist though, one who is aware of their own ****, how to deal with it and how not to let it impact on clients. It's no wonder it's often a fine line between client and therapist but that's what gives them the ability to help.

I'm under the impression that a significant part of those studying to psychology study it to really study their own problems. It's a bit like trying to medicate yourself. It will go wrong at some point.

I am of course kidding, but don't tell me that all of the psychology students are free of issues. (I actually know one, so I know I'm right. ;) )
