I have 2 screens connected to my comp, trouble is when I use both of them for driving games the view is split right down the middle between the two screens. I wish to trick my computer into thinking it has 3 screens, thereby keeping the forward view on the main monitor and a slighty side view on another monitor. How do I get it to think it has 3 screens to use, thanks Windows XP Pro or Win 7
I know I'm stating the obvious here, but why not get a 3rd screen? An easier fix, albeit not ideal, is to game in windowed mode, and just shift the window to one side.
Because I'd need a third screen, space for a third screen, another gfx card, another mobo to take another gfx card
You could try playing around with ZoneScreen. There are XP and Vista installers but I'm not sure how well the Vista ones work. Basically I was messing about with this some time ago, trying to get a laptop to act as a third monitor at, pretty much just to see if it could be done. It installs a third (virtual) monitor in the display properties dialogue which can be used with a network client (a laptop,) so yeah... Like I said, have a play, though it's been a fair while since I looked at this stuff. http://www.zoneos.com/zonescreen.htm
Right, do this with a VGA port, or get a DVI-to-VGA converter. Put a 100 Ohm (0.25W) [75 Ohm might do] resistor between pin 2 and 7. That will trick the BIOS into thinking there's a monitor attached, it should work with Windows too. I think.
I can't try the hardware trick because I don't have any VGA or DVI ports to use, I have a 8800 GTS with 2 monitors attached already, I put this in software hoping I could just use a piece of software to trick windows into thinking I have 3 screens :X
but he doesn't have extra output connection. not sure whether a vga splitter would work. but it's worth a try. or simply plug in another graphics card, any card will do, and problem solved.
Here is the screen you want: http://www.displayblog.com/2008/06/20/nec-42-curved-dlp-monitor-at-infocomm-2008/
A VGA splitter might but it's only going to show the same as another monitor as you are just splitting the image in two. I need to make the comp think I have a usable monitor, I need a 3rd screen to show up in nVidia control panel without there actually being one.
i've got one at my summer placement, and it's showing 3 screens in the display settings from the 2400 graphics card. easiest way is to get a £25 PCI card from ebay. or a £15 PCI-e ultra-low-end one.
Thanks, I was looking for something just like that. This is why Bit-Tech rocks, you never know what you run into.
