What's the RMA process like with Hiper? Bad/good/quick/slow? I only ask as I was booting my main PC up and it got so far then completely lost power. I then (hopefully in time) did the sensible thing and unplugged all the psu leads from the motherboard and components and tried to fire it up again on its own. Before I'd even got that far and milliseconds after I'd plugged it in it went pop and took out the circuit breaker for the house sockets (luckily upstairs and downstairs lights are on a seperate circuit, otherwise I'd be sat in the dark wondering wtf just happened). No plume of smoke, nothing, just a pop. I really really hope it didn't take anything out whilst it was booting up, otherwise I'll be gutted. I shouldn't think it would have though. What I may do is borrow a psu from work and check that my rig still works okay. I'm a little worried, but hopefully for nothing. I just hope Hiper's RMA process is swift. I've sent a couple of emails with details, etc so it should be a matter of boxing it up and exchanging it for a new one from a courier who collects the old one. It was bought in December 2005, so it falls under Hiper's RTB warranty rather than the retailers first year warranty. Oh btw it's a HPU-4S525 and has been working fine and dandy up 'til now.
I'll be interested in the outcome of this m8, 'coz I'm running three of their 580w modular's in various rigs, and I've also got one of their newer 730w Omnigrid II Quad SLI modular jobbies here, for my next build! Heaven forbid the same thing should happen to me of course... but I hope their support proves to be just as good for you, as their PSU's have been for me
Flippin' eck, that's a beast. I received an email this morning with an RMA number and details of sending it back, i.e. original invoice, box and packaging enclosed. Am I liable for the postage cost of sending it back or is that now a claimable cost?
