    I would go for Spanish as it is the 4th most spoken language and uses Latin Characters, so you don't have to re-learn the alphabet.

    Personally I speak and write 3 languages fluently, English, swedish and french.
    learning german right now would definately recomend it however you would most
    probably find more use for spanish.

    If I were going to learn a second language, it would be a toss up between german, french, japanese and mandarin. Mandarin's usefulness is overrated, yeah, it might say that most of China speaks it, but every region has their own dialect and it takes about a year for other mandarin speakers to learn a different region's dialect apparently.

    I am able to read Arabic, though understand very little of it... there is a class every Saturday, in the school across the road. I'll pop in and leave you all some feedback on how it goes...

    The most difficult language to learn is supposed to be Navajo.

    So few were ever able to learn it that these natives were used to talk in code during WW II.

    Ever see the movie "Wind Talkers"?
