I want a laptop. I want to spend no more than $1000. It has to be an Athlon. I will not buy a Compaq, Gateway, Dell, Emachine, HP, or any other **** company. I was thinking of an Alienware. What should I get?

I'm assuming you want a gaming laptop.

Alienware rebrand Clevo chassis, thier new m7700 is most likely based off this one - http://www.clevo.com.tw/products/D900K.asp

Absolutly cannot recommend them at all.

As for the others, well HP/Compaq (same company now) make great WORK laptops, I know a number of people with Dell XPS laptops they are very happy with them they are all Intel powered however. Cant comment on the others although emachines make shoddy desktops and I havent seen a gateway in years.

In which case I applaud your bravery of buying a $1000 laptop on ebay.

What exactly would you be buying the notebook for? Your cerinly not going to be playing games on it if your only spending a grand on it. So you just want it for class? Mobility?

If thats so i wouldnt turn down dell, they have some sweet deals for students as well as coupons. You could go over to ibm and check out some of there sub 1000 dollar notebooks.

Check out some of these notebooks

Some other manufacturers you could check out are asus, acer, or even toshiba. I've heard the Satellite series is semi good. :thumb:
