    Hi,

I'm planning on buying either of the following, and was just looking to see what would be the better option. Using the comp for all the ususal, image editing, video encoding, gaming etc.

    Intel Sandybridge i5-2500K Unlocked Core i5 Quad-Core Processor (3.30GHz, 6MB Cache, Socket 1155)
    and
    ASUS 1155 P8Z68-V PRO S/L

    OR

    Intel Sandybridge i7-2600K Unlocked Core i7 Quad-Core Processor (3.40GHz, 8MB Cache, Socket 1155)
    and
    Gigabyte GA-Z68A-D3-B3, Intel Z68, S 1155, DDR3, SATA III - 6Gb/s, RAID SATA, PCIe 2.0 (x16), ATX

Both combos work out at roughly the same monies, but pbiously the more expensive processor means a cheaper mobo. Is it worth doing?

    Thanks

The i7 2600k would be better for what you want to use it for.

Although you should just check the features of the Gigabyte board and see if it has everything you need.

2600K would fit your needs perfectly. Most games won't need a highly Oc'd cpu anyway and the hyperthreading on the 2600k will aid in tasks such as image/video editing.

2600K will be about 20/30% quicker at video rendering times, because that kind of software can use all 8 threads. Games performance will be pretty much identical at the minute, because most game are limited to 4 threads.

    Some benchmarks here.
