If you're going to overclock, then surely the 750 would be better value. The only benefit to the 860 is hyperthreading isn't it? Which wouldn't be too useful for gaming.

But doesn't the 750 overclock a lot better than the 860? I suppose it depends whether he's going to run it stock or not.

For $40, who cares? The pros and cons have been discussed at length here before.

The 750 is in no way a better overclocker than the 860, the only difference is the 860 has a 22x multi and the 750 has 21x so expect higher overclocks on the 860 down to that fact. The rest will be down to the motherboard. I recently went for the 860 and forked out the extra cost beacuse I wanted hyper threading which I'm sure is goign to be utilised more and become common place in the future so for 40 bucks, why the heck not.

going from 750 to 860, i can safely say there is no noticeable difference in games.

but with my Corsair H50, i found 4Ghz on i5 750 was a bit easy because of low temperature, yet 4.2Ghz require too much voltage for my liking. with the 860, 4Ghz was perfect, just a small amount of voltage increase and 4Ghz with perfect temperature, no need to worry about not using all of my cooling capability.

750 is easier to overclock only because it produces less heat. so unless you are going to buy a crap cooler, might as well go for the 860. i spent £80 on top of selling 750 to get the 860.

The 750's the better overclocker and definitely more cost-effective, but for $40 I would take the upgrade; you never know, hyperthreading might turn out to be important.
