Hey just been playing with my overclock on my rig.
Realistically am I going to get Hyper threading working at 4ghz.
It's currently running the cpc benchmark but has failed the last 3 times. I've left the 4ghz but dropped the ram to 1600mhz instead of the 2000mhz.
So far so good how ever I would rather run memory at 2000mhz. Would increasing the voltage to the ram stop it bsod'ing?

    This is my settings ATM
    200mhz FSB
    20x multi
    CoreV 1.4
    MemV 1.65

All energy saving features are on aswell as HT
    Temp wise 75c load

    Any advice?

In everyday use you are not really going to notice the 400mhz difference on the ram. Having hyper threading on as well, I can hit 4.4Hhz with it. Some people say it makes a difference to overclocking, but not in my experience. Turning it off will reduce temp slightly but that's about all. As for the ram voltage I wouldn't push it any further.

Why do you need the RAM at 2000MHz? 1600MHz should be fine.

It's been a while since I bothered to faff around with overclocking, but you may have to increase voltage to the northbridge IIRC. The northbridge frequency will probably be hitting a wall with the 2000MHz settings.

What Vcore you using for 4.4ghz
Just got an overall score of 2047 in cpc benchmark which is what I was aiming for.
I'll try again with HT off and see what I get then.

    Currently trying
    175x23 = 4025Mhz 1768ram
Temp 2c lower with lower FSB

Just trying to get the highest benchmark possible. No reason for it just a bit of fun

I was using 1.37 on my 940,but I think it was just a very good chip. I had it in a X58 UD3 as well. on my P6TD Deluxe It would only do 4.1 with reasonable voltage. Any more and I'd have to start turning it up.

    my setup is :

    183x23 at ~1.4v = 4209MHz

    36 idle

    67 load

    EDIT: with HT enabled

At 4.4 it refused to boot so tried 4.3 and was unstable, bsod'ing after 20mins or so. 1.4v was bringing temps into high 80's so have now backed it down to 3.68 at 1.32v.

Don't think this ones a great clocker tbh. Still don't know why anything over 2000mhz on ram failed to boot.

I should have my wc loop up soon so will try again then.

    Cheers for the help all

I prefer to have HT on but my chip struggles to hit 4ghz below 1.4v which is a bit rich for me tbh as idle temps are in the 50's and it tops out in the 80's. So I leave it at 3.8 which seems to be a big step down in voltage.

For high ram speeds you need high QPI and CPU PLL voltages

    whats your uncore speed ?

you should be looking at 4000-4200mhz for 2000mhz RAM

thats a pretty high uncore so extra juice will be required through the mobo
