i7930 Socket 1366 and RX480 Does anyone know if there will be any issuses with this. My HD6950 CF ha Bricked I was wanting to upgrade my MB and Cpu first but fate would have it. I want to buy this in the next hour. any help ??
Unless your motherboard doesn't like it then no, it should be fine. I would do some Googling first with your motherboard model number and RX 480 to see if there are any issues.
I'm not sure if part picker would pick that up. I presume Vault-Tec is talking about the RX 480 pulling more current through the PCI-E port than the spec allows. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-radeon-rx-480-polaris-10,4616-9.html
yeah I just read about the PCI-e power issue. The annoying thing is that information isn't available anywhere for my GA-X58A-UD3R (rev. 2.0) :/ it is 5 years old now
It supports 3 way xfire/sli, so it's designed for at least 225W of PCIe power. It's unlikely that each slot has a separate power trace back to the ATX connector, so I'd guess that it should be fine.
I wasn't talking about the power thing no. Sometimes new AMD cards don't work on old bioses. In fact, I've had Nvidia cards that won't either, not without a bios update. I guess there's always DSR so it may just be best to suck it and see if you can't find any instances of issues online
