id Software has detailed two new games it's is making for the iPhone, namely Quake 3 and Wolfenstein RPG

 

when can it play crysis?

 

I don't know why people bother making games for any Mac products, as Apple really isn't interested in gaming at all, they'll never have gaming as a primary function in any of their devices so the the gaming experiance will be mediocre at best

 

They don't say 'No, please don't develop for the iPhone/iPod Touch to increase our sales", either. I think it's good that we get some innovation and if the price is right and the reviews say it's good I'll definitely grab Q3 for my Touch.

First of all, what an icredible asinine response.
Apple have never been interested in gaming, all they want it to make slick products with accessible interfaces and for all the software to be as easy to use as possible. They are quite good at this.

And to my last point, try and name an outstanding game thats been developed on any phone or mobile device that isn't primarily for gaming. Look at the N-Gage. A mobile device that put a lot of money into making a hybrid device to compete with the handheld consoles and not a single noteworthy game was released on it. They even made design choices with gaming in mind, and it still sucked. The iPhone is just a phone with a reasonably powerful processor with gimmicky input devices (for gaming). Its never going to be great. Barely adequate, possibly.

He is right, apple products are not aimed at gamers, even when they sell a gaming graphics card they sell it to use for cad etc.

I don't agree though that people shouldn't bother making games for the iphone, it has a reasonable amount of power and can run these games, infact all the fun games and apps are the only thing that I would say are good about the iphone. Otherwise it is just an overpriced touchscreen mobile lacking in features of phones half the price.

If I had an iphone I would be looking forward to this.

 

it's not really about what Apple wants, is it (even if they have advertised the games that have been created for their machines). It is about what Apple customers want. And many iPhone owners wouldn't say no to a bit of Quake in their pocket.

 

There is plenty of decent apple hardware, as for ALL your other arguments - boot camp.

 

i cant see how a twitch FPS like Q3 would work on iphone or any other mobile device tbh
no mouse = no precision/speed = not Q3
