I didn't realize until recently that people left the paper pull tabs on their IDE cables after they were installed. I always just cut 'em off right away because I thought they were ugly and I never had any problems pulling them off without them. So what's the deal, who leaves em on and who cuts em off?
Loll yeah i saw that too I guess someone wants to start a trend or there's some really not adverturous modders
I've left them on if the case doesn't have a window....lmao If its a windowed case, I use rounded ones, and cut it off, but if not, why bother? (of course this is on a un-modded case)
as a pc tech i love the tabs, thos its not paper, its more of a plastic, as no paper ive seen stretches kinda and wont tear, i cant remember how many times those fragile 80ribbon cables tear at the connector, with the pull tabs it makes things alot easier, especially when pulling from a motherboard, or a hard drive that just wont give up the connector..., tho from my experience there is another kinda tab that i think is the best.. is the loop tab that runs from either end of the connector and is just a thin plastic wire type deal, its easy to cut off, but far better at cable removal then the other
That makes me wonder if anyone has ever tried to "mod" the tabs by like making their own artwork on a sticker or something and replacing the tab with that. That could be cool.
I always snip them off. I've never really had a stubborn cable, they always wiggle out. Molex connectors, on the other hand....
Yeh, I'm with the guy who posted above me, I just snip em right off, degrade how the pc looks IMO, I also believe that the correct plural word for molex is moli haha
Most IDE cables are colour coded: blue = motherboard grey = slave black = master So you can cut them off without worries
thats sort of an oxymoron, being as modding is about risking damaging your computer to make it better. i guess if they were just posers pretending to be modders, but last time i checked modding wasnt exactly cool enough to have a poser crowd.
