I was wondering what happens to pin 23/25/39 when the drive is inactive.
Are they just 'disconnected' or do they go to high?

I need to know this, because I made Zap's Independent Activity LED circuit, but acidentally connected a HD wire to a wrong pinheader that I had put on my board. So now the HD's pin 39 is ****ed up.
Since I don't want to do that to future drives, I'd like to create a circuit with some kind of NOT port so that stuff like that can't happen again.

But off course, if the signal doesn't go to high when inactive I think there's not much I can do, isn't it?

Pin 39 is HIGH when the drive is inactive.
Or more acuratly it is HIGH IMPEADANCE
But it should not be putting out any voltage.

As far as Pins 23 and 25, those are Functional data wires.
When the drive is inactive these should, be high.
If you screw those up, you are on your own.

Well, is there any IC that can detect if pin 39 is active (low), well, that or that it's inactive (that high impeadance you're talking about).
What exactly does high impeadance mean? High resistor value?

And, you're right, there aren't any probs with ping 23 & 25, I'd just have to use a buffer to be on the safe side :wallbash:.
