Yea I have one of those, worked quite nicely, then had to take it out because I needed the power connector...

    *Gets into flaming suit*

Anyway...guys think we all need to calm down.

It's not CK's fault he's not a native english speaker. Cut the guy a little bit of slack, and try to make the answers as simple as possible to read (no offence CK, just trying to make it easier for you) Even if i'm writing in fairly large chunks.

As for you CK, there is a point with the puttting "!" on the end of every line. Also, to make life a little easier for us to help you, look at what you type before you hit the "post" button, as this will help you in the long run, as more people will be able to give you assistance.

Also try to stay calm. When something doesn't work, there is generally a reason. It's not the person in the shop's fault, and if it turns out to be one defective unit out of a few, then get a refund, but when they all don't work your doing something a tad wrong, we all make mistakes. Hell I make damn big ones sometimes.

Also in all my time with computer problems, i've learnt that google is a techy's best friend. Try and check it more often, if you don't find an answer, then come to us and we'll try and help you.

Also if you don't understand an answer, tell us. Somebody will try and simplify the answer for you :)

    group hug anyone?

And for the record, i know i'm probably going to get flamed for this. But hey...sticks and stones :)

    Nice to hear CK :)

    Anyways, moving on...

I can understand you wanting to keep to SATA connections, but as Jokkos said, BIOS may have trouble picking it up. I know it did for me. From what I remember, I did this (for windows installation):

1 -Connect IDE drive direct to IDE port

2 -Install Windows as you would normally

3 -Once Windows has installed, disconnect IDE drive and connect throught the adaptor

4 -Start the PC up :D

One thing I feel I should add, I was doing this on the DVD drive I was borrowing a while ago. I'm not sure if this will work for your boot hard drive, seeing as it has to run via BIOS to boot to Windows in the first place.

I'm a little rusty, seeing as i've had it sitting in a box for a fair few months. If I think about it, i'll have a look tomorrow at some point, and run through how to use it...depends if i have time amongst the 1000 things i need to do this weekend

Also bear in mind the earlier comment about type 1 and type 2. Remember one of these is SATA -> IDE, which is what it sounds like you want, and the other is IDE - >SATA, which won't work for you.

(Thats in reference in following in the cable from the motherboard to the drive. IE SATA -> IDE is SATA on the mobo and IDE in the HDD)
