For X-mas, I got a nice big black Chieftec Dragon Full Tower case . Now I need some modding ideas. Actually, what I'm most interested in is cutting a window. Anyone have an idea for a window? I was thinking of some kinda flame design, because I couldn't think of anything else and I don't want it to just be a rectangle or something really simple. Also, if anyone has any quick and easy mods for this, I would like to hear them.
The first thing you need to decide is what sort of theme you want. Simple designs can look really good when done properly. As for easy mods, change all the LEDs to the brightest ones you can find of whatever colour you're going for (bl0000! ) and light it up with some CCFLs, or (my favourite) liquid neons. Cut some fan holes as well.
I'm not too sure about a theme. I'll probably just leave it black. As for the colors, I am a big fan of blue LEDs, so I'll probably change those.But for the case lighting, I really like how cases look with multiple colors. I'd like to get red, blue, green cathodes, some multi-colored led fans. I already have a UV but its a dinky 4" and is crappy in a full tower. I'm planning on doing some UV etching on my cards, maybe lighted molex connectors. got techflex sleeving for x-mas and sleeved part of my psu's cables, but it came out looking like sh*t. I didn't let the sleeving extend all the way so its bunched up in some places....also, does anyone have any recommendations on what to do with the ends of the sleeving? What should I use to get rid of the fraying and what's the best way to hide the sleeving so the ends don't stand out too much?
I went for a nice simple rounded window the full size of the side panel and replaced all my fans with red LED ones. Black and red looks great.
