um.. hi deadly If you're wondering, yes i am going to do this, im leaving for a month so ill start in august. Now go away. lol jk Crimson sky, i am going to give you a shout, id really appreciate some advice!
i have a cool idea if you got the time and paitence to do it all. step 1 grab some perspex step 2 print out some matrix symbols step 3 attach them to the perspex and dremel arround the prints so you left with solid matrix symbols step 4 lightly sand them step 5 dremel out the symbol on the case step 6 glue the symbols in step 7 get green leds behind the buggers in varying voltages to give different glow strengths and hey prest 3d effect at the front fo your case could even use them for power and reset buttons in a different colour and for full on replace the hdd activity led with green and the symbol will ficker hope u like idea came from the anti vandal switch idea.
icarus, that is an awesome idea, albeit impossible. Dremel disks are just too wide, you'd need a laser-cut. and even then... but that is an AWESOME IDEA!!!! hm... ill think about some alternative way to do it. EDIT- just realized that deadly said to lazer cut it also, but where can you get that done?
sweet idea is it easy to find that kinda thing? and is it expensive cos might do something like that with a water flaming water drop idea i have. (water droplet in blue with a red flaming border)
new idea how about this use a vibro saw to make the symbols the tidy them up with a sander of sorts then rater than cutting the symbols as the symbols are going to be sanded off to make them glow just drill holes in the case glue on and light thru the holes iam a genius go on admit it j/k
Or instead of paying a fortune to get every one laser cut and then backlight them with different strength LEDs... just get it etched in the window Less potential breakage issues too.
if you want cool software, run a search for ZMatrix, its a BACKGROUND program, it scrolls over whatever background you've got on your screen so you don't have to wait for a screensaver. i've got it running semi-transparent over the vector background in WinXP, and it looks sweet. doesn't take a whole lot of memory either. anyway, it'd go nicely with the theme you've got there.
ok, i downloaded zmatrix and its pretty awesome... anyways, you know how they have the lcd monitors in the matrix? THey're black and have these really cool burn marks on them; im going to experiment with burning plastic to see what kind of results i can get
Actually, it's the Logos, not the Hammer (can't believe nobody picked up on that one! ) Anyway, this sounds like it could be a REALLY cool mod if you pull it off right. I've never seen that Sentinel model before, and I'm just loving the idea you have for it.
I'd say have the Sentinel half on the top, half on the side, and ripping open a window in the side of the machine. Similar to the "destroyed" look of GoblinTinkerer's Orcish mod, maybe.
