Modding Idiots guide to LCD's please...

    im from the UK and reallywant a LCD for as cheep as possable it can be Paralell or Serial but must be cheep can anyone help.

    P.S. I have access ti maplin for parts if ya can get em there.

    I believe you can get an industry standard LCD from maplin although I don't know codes or anything like that.

    However, check out wiring guide here...

    It'll set you back price of LCD, a printer cable (possibly a connector instead if you wanna do a good job on it)

    and a molex

    Pretty good way to have an LCD on the cheap!

    Hi, the following are prices and codes for maplins parallel LCD's they all use Hitachi HD44780 compatible display controlers:

    RM88V - 2x16 - £11.055
    RM89W - 2x20 - £25.523
    RM90X - 2x40 - £34.034
    RM91Y - 4x20 - £34.034

    All prices above include VAT

    I have the RM91Y LCD and it works great with LCDCenter, Winamp plugins etc..

    Note: Chris -[tBG] on this forum bought RM88V and couldnt get it to work, not sure why, but this is just a word of warning.
