This only happens on one of my computers. Sometimes when I'm on the web and try to go to a new page and the page cannot be found, instead of saying "Page Not Found" the screen closes. It's annoying because if I'm already on one site, I'd just like to use the back button, but that option is gone and I have to open a new screen. Any ideas?
1. There's nothing wrong with IE. Man - I HATE how anti-IE fanboys keep bringing up firefox and ie alternatives as often as possible. 2. Maxthon is a decent IE-based browser. 3. I'm thinking that there might be an option somewhere in the internet properties. Go to "tools" and then "internet properties". Click on the "advanced" tab and hit "restore defaults". That's all I can think of at the moment.
It could be worth checking for spyware. If there are any shoddily installed extensions in there then it might cause this sort of crash.
Yes I did reinstall IE, but not the Beta. And I know it's not spyware. I have adaware and spybot and they've never fixed it.
There's an option to show "Friendly" error messages that may be involved, but it sounds like your install is corrupted. There's an MS KB article on repairing IE, involves changing some registry keys.
Yeah, I kinda felt like a Firefox fanboy when I posted but I see that post got killed anyway. Have you got any pop up blockers that might be mistaking the not found message for a pop up?
