    I'm sick of the search toolbar and the urlbar in IE 8. The entire history popping up covering the whole damn screen whenever I start typing stuff in, its digging though my history, my favorites, my recent searches and the recent URLs for the url bar, and its highly annoying. Its like having a hyperactive midget with ADHD just running off on every tangent at every possible moment. If I wanted to go back to somewhere I looked at already, I'd dig though my history. If I wanted a favorite, Id dig though my favorites.

    How do I disable this, I managed to turn off the popup that shows up everytime you select text "Oh did you want to seach for this on Live? on Google? Or did you want to fax it, or copy it to word, or email it or blog it to msn blogs?" NNOOOO I wasnt I was just selecting the text while I read, now stop throwing icons all over my screen.

    How do I disable all this. Is there a way or should I just revert back to IE7 if I can?

    edit: found the auto complete settings, the icon is was different or something and I was too busy breaking a blood vessel in my eye and skipped over it, found it and fixed it... So now this is just a rant.

    I used to click on the um... down arrow to see sites that I goto on a daily basis. But now that the history and fav's are in there as well I find that it doesn't show as many url's that I visit often.
    I kind of miss ie7 as well.

    You can get completely rid of the search box as well, but that takes a registry edit.

    Save this to a file with a .reg extension and run it (or apply the changes directly with regedit):
    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Infodelivery\Restrictions]
    "NoSearchBox"=dword:00000001
    Hope, this helps.

    back when i installed the IE8 beta, you could revert it back to 7 by checking the "show updates" box in add/remove programs, and then uninstalling the IE8 update. not sure if that still works.

    also, firefox?
